The first antecedent propiamente said of the group trace back to 1957 with The Quarry Men., group of skiffle created by John Lennon. Lennon Had formed other groups with anterioridad, but this band was the first that began to have some success, arriving even to touch in small events.

Is in one of them, realized in the playground of a church where a friend, called Ivan Vaughan, would present him to Paul Cartney. To 1958 John decides alejarse of the skiffle to do an incursión in the Rock and Roll.

This causes the exit of one of the integrantes of the band and gives him to Paul the opportunity to recommend to a his friend of the school to take the place like guitarist. Afterwards John Lennon go back to the group
